Emergency Disaster Handling Team Created!

Man, it is no exaggeration to say that our company is being hit with a series of crises lately. First Project King gets canceled, then Rakuten Books goes haywire, and now major earthquakes throws the entire country, not to mention this company, into brief chaos. All outbound calls at Sales Development(営開, Eikai) came to a halt completely, and I heard DU is trying their best to check on the servers to make sure they are continuously up and running.

...Not that it is the priority here anyways. Even though the Internet is alive and well (not to mention that many people are probably saved by wireless internet during this crisis), e-commerce trades real, physical goods, and without those real, physical goods being intact, an intact and still beautiful Internet shop means absolutely nothing. And as the Rakuten Books fiasco proved to us, a slight delay can cause major damage in EC, not least because there are so many EC sites that sell same goods with similar (or even cheaper) prices.

So, probably considering all this, the Boss has called for set up of an Emergency Handling Team at Rakuten, headed by himself and working through the weekend to deal with whatever negative consequences Rakuten will face as a result of the continuing earthquakes. For the company, just as it is for Japan and the world, the repercussions from the earthquake will be significant, especially considering the well-being of many merchants in affected areas are still unconfirmed.

Let's see what will come out of all this....
